Ambition knows no time zone.

Hey, it's Shaheim “The Success Mentor” here...

Ambition truly knows no time zone.

It doesn't matter where you are in the world, we all tend to get lost in our ambitions our desires, in the moment. This can be dangerous sometimes as it alienates you from everyone else and even the people closest to you. It's not that you don't care about them, it's just that you're driven beyond immediate reality in seeing this vision come true. This emotional pull that flows through your every being almost controls you. Before you know it, you haven't eaten, drank anything or slept.
This unbelievable focus has gotten us through many cramming sessions, pressures to fulfill deadlines and dreams we had to work on to see thru. When you become a business owner or entrepreneur, you'll sometimes forget the days of the week, holidays and seasons because you're in your own world bringing forth a vision into reality.
Embrace that focus and be confident in standing alone because no one knows your ambition more than the results your effort created.

I'll leave you with a short poem I found...

(AMBITIOUS ONE)
"...I swear my admiration
can't fit in an equation
to find the summation
of my adoration
plus your negation
to be an imitation,
hot damn your dedication
is amazing..." - Saije Cook

Biting off more than you can chew...

I got a response to my survey question and this is what was asked:

"You don't want to be over zealous and bite off more than you can chew so how do you know where to begin when you decide to start your business?"

Well, it will depend on the question you ask yourself. Many people will figure out what they may be thinking about doing and then try to figure out how. While their in the process of thinking this over they think about their why. And if the work is too difficult that's the moment the dream tends to die. People have this imaginary wall that seems like a constant obstacle of where to go next or how to even get started. The minimal question in this process is why do you want to do it.

Your process should be Why, How, then What. To know where you should begin, find out your Why first. Why is it important to open up this business? How do you plan on solving this issue? What can you provide or do to solve this problem? You see, businesses are about solving problems. The more you help people solve a problem and  the better you are at doing it... the more money you can make and gain notoriety.

So here's a few ideas to think about before starting a business. Are you ready?
  • Think about something that gets your emotions involved where there is a problem to be solved. For example: "I needed something shipped overnight when I absolutely needed it sent and delivered without fail": FedEx. Or "I'm so tired of buying CD's and spending hours downloading and burning CD's of my favorite songs while carrying around this bulky CD player to listen to those songs": Apple IPod. Or "I like to travel but hotels are so expensive, why can't I just stay on someone's couch for a few days and pay a fraction of what I'd pay a hotel": AirBnB. This is you why. Why is it important to you?
  • Think of how people would benefit from your product or service. How will it make their lives easier? How will it make their lives more convenient? If people do not have a problem to be solved then your product or service isn't of use to them. People buy out of what they feel they need to have to solve a problem. So give them something they could actually use. You don't have to create something that will work for everybody as trying to solve everyone's problem is almost impossible. Solve a problem for a group and be the best at it. Selling air conditioners in Antarctica might not be the best business model, so it has to make sense?
  • Ask yourself is it moral and ethical? You want to make sure that the need your solving for won't violate code of ethics policies or get you locked up and thrown in jail.
  • Does it excite you to learn more about building on this idea for a product or service? Does it get you inspired to go out and find the resources to make it a reality? What is it? Think about when you wake up in the morning to go to work. Most people don't get too excited about going to work, as my wife would say, "I don't feel like being an adult today." If you love your job, then you're in a good place and this isn't necessarily for you. But think about your idea and identify what the product or service is. When you think about it, does it make you want to drop everything and go out there and take on the world? It should. Whatever you choose be passionate about it.
There are many things to think about when starting a business but you don't need to take a big bite to know if it tastes good. Nibble a bit at a time and follow the ways I've described to see if it will be a business you'd be happy to bring to the world.

How do I get people to check out my music?

Does talking to people work for your business?

It should!

If it doesn't then you're missing out. Stop just sounding like a robot and get out and talk with people.

Conversations and drip mail still work.

Above all build relationships with your audience. Begin with people you know and actually check on what they're doing. I always say, "when networking and building relationships, it should be more about them than it is about you." Find out what their doing and what inspires them. The conversation moves to a dialogue about them to a mental trigger called "reciprocity" (Jeff Walker) that then has them ask about you. Now you have an open platform to promote yourself as they had. Make sure you have a simple and direct call to action to what you wish for them to do. Got it?

You are Awesome

You Are Frickin' AWESOME!!! And that's not all. You truly won't be satisfied until you believe that. I mean it! You are awesome! Saying it out loud helps a bit but you must believe it. Self-affirmations work but only when your actions support it. You believe it so you become it. If you're awesome at something or people like how you do something, the next thing is to just do it. Do exactly what you're awesome at. Use your skills, your knowledge, your experience and use your creativity like no one else can. Be what you say you are and fight until you are what you have always believed yourself to be... AWESOME!!! For the LAST TIME, especially if no one else has said it to you, YOU ARE AWESOME and who knows that better than YOU!!!

That is all...

Some encouragement about your business.

Happy Morning,

I thought this was an AWESOME post I found and I figured I'd share it with you all.

How do you know if your business idea already exists?

"The founder of Dropbox was pitching in front of an investor one day, and the investor asked him: "there are similar companies out there doing the same as dropbox, why should I invest in just another similar company?"

His reply: "Yes. There are similar companies out there doing the same as dropbox. But do you use any of them?"

"No."

"Why?"

"Because they are bad."

"Ok. That's what Dropbox wants to solve."

So bottomline: Ask your potential customers.

Any business idea is a solution to someone's problem out there. Ask them if they are solving it, how they are solving it, and if they would be willing to pay to have it solved.

It doesn't matter if it already exists if it can be done better."

3 Simple Things That Help Us Fail?

3 Simple Things That Help Us Fail?

You'd be surprised to find out that 3 simple things help us fail. Bottom line, these 3 things prevent us from succeeding.

Listen, I have a passion for helping people in their business. I know a lot and I feel I'm knowledgeable enough to give advice, so I decided to become a consultant. Being a consultant was a good way to show people how to get it right. To understand how to help other businesses, I had to take a moment and look at myself. What is it that was keeping me from succeeding? And it turns out, I wasn't the only one having this problem.
3 Simple Things That Help Us Fail

Simple Thing  #1
I'll be the lab rat to explain what I went through and what I learned. I've always been able to come up with great ideas but I also used to get distracted a lot. I would add other things to my idea and begin a new brainstorm session. My thoughts then begin to scatter and the original idea gets overwhelmed. When it would be time to define what I wanted to do, I'd be so overwhelmed with so many thoughts that I would try to explain it all. I would try to do too much. Now people around always suggest to focus on one thing but my brain doesn't work that way. And apparently I'm not alone.

My Diagnosis: I was suffering from an Unclear Vision. I've had this happen to me for a long time. Maybe, the effects of knowing too much, huh!

My Treatment: I figured out a way to combine many of my ideas together using their common elements to produce tangible goals and desired results.

Simple Thing  #2
You ever get that feeling that you have to do everything yourself and so you try to, it eventually seems to get you no where, and you begin to feel "stuck"? Ughhh. Most of all, you're working hard but not seeing the results? You see, I'm always willing to try new things and I would try to do as much as I could to feel like I was getting things done. I had some good habits to help me stay organized which I felt was a good thing. I used to create a "to-do-list" to keep me on task. My problem was that it was always 25+ items long. None of which really focused on what I really needed to accomplish or too many things I felt I needed to be doing to accomplish my goals. My schedules would be full to the max and I'd get super busy. Running myself into exhaustion and burnout. You know the feeling?

My DiagnosisLike so many others, I was suffering from Unclear Objectives. Too many "things to do" and not enough focused on getting something accomplished. Feeling overwhelmed but letting my pride get in the way to say I didn't need any help or assistance. Being super busy with "stuff"
My Treatment: I found that, there are a lot of busy people out there but their not being productive. I finally stopped myself from being so busy. A subject I speak about now called "Stop being busy and start being productive." This concept allows me to teach, in 3 simple steps, how to create and execute the short term activities to accomplish my long term goals. No more burn-out and no more not having enough time in a day.

Simple Thing  #3
To be honest, sometimes, I wouldn't even do certain tasks because my "to-do-list" was so overwhelming that I couldn't... better yet... didn't set aside the time. I would just push it along on the calendar and set a new due date. Bad time management played a huge part of my non-productive ways and created a deeper void in my life and the dream of succeeding started slipping away. This was about 5 years ago.

All these little things I was overlooking or waiting for the last moment to address was hindering my success. It was making me reactive to situations rather than following the plan I set forth. You remember being in school and your teacher telling you that you have a paper that needs to be turned in by a certain date in the far future? I know you remember this. So let me ask you this? When did you start on writing the paper? hmm?

I'll wait...

Some of you gave yourself ample time and the rest did it with the clock ticking. Probably the night before and stayed up all night to complete it. Sound familiar? Just like the ladder, I wasn't giving myself the adequate time to not feel rushed into completing a task and in business this can be detrimental to the future of the company.

My DiagnosisI was suffering from chronic Procrastination.

My Treatment: Stop wasting my own time and focus on setting a doable plan that leads to the completion of my goal, with ample time to spare for corrections. It's one thing to be known to get a task done, it's another to be known to getting it done ahead of all expectations. Legendary Personal Development Speaker and Mentor, Jim Rohn said,
"What is easy to is easy not to do." How true this statement is.

Napoleon Hill, author of "Think & Grow Rich" said "a big success is made up from a great number of little circumstances each of which may seem so small and insignificant most people pass them by as not being worthy of notice."

I figured out why most businesses fail and most of all why I was failing. It was those 3 simple things: I had unclear visions, unclear objectives and I procrastinated.

Over the years, I've studied and worked on better productivity, narrowing down my things to do and thinking about the vision in everything I did. These 3 things were not easy to correct and I didn't have a mentor to teach me how to do it. I had a willingness to succeed and saw the adverse effects in my life if I continued the way I was going. Something had to change. I had to change. I started to take off layers from my main vision and focus on what I specifically wanted to gain. I began forming all my ideas around just that one goal. I detailed my tasks to only 6, which would be the most productive and of the highest priority to reach my goal and then I immediately got started on the most important one.
It changed my life and I decided it was time to start helping others change theirs. Success is great and it's even better when other people get to experience it too.
